Onipa’a (Be Steadfast)

August 5th, 2010 by admin received No Comments »

We are proud to support both the pursuit of higher education and the arts, so this year we are happy to help produce the UNCW Short Film, “Onipa’a.”

LOGLINE: In the 36 hours before Kamehameha attacks the island of Maui, the Chief Kalanikupule and his men prepare for battle.

Meet Kai Feliciano, a UNCW Honors Film Student, writer and director of this short film.  Born and raised in Hawai’i, she went to Wilmington, North Carolina to study film.  Her ambition: “to make movies people have heard of.”  (Follow @KaiFeliciano on Twitter.)

Join us in helping Kai Feliciano by pledging to the Kickstarter or by donating via the PayPal button below.  By pledging +$5 at Kickstarter, you can receive rewards starting with exclusive access to the behind-the-scenes video updates as my crew during the making of Onipa`a – including clips of production meetings, auditions, outtakes, and more; OR, by donating $1 below, you will get a special thanks on the film website.

Losing the Tax Exempt Status

July 26th, 2010 by admin received 1 Comment »

Aloha,

Are you a tax exempt organization?! Are you on the Board of one or do you frequent one?!  The general rule states: tax exempt organizations that do not satisfy the annual filing requirements for three consecutive years automatically lose their tax-exempt status; however the IRS is providing one-time relief for such organizations that have filing due dates on or after May 17, 2010 and before October 15, 2010.  Well, many of our tax exempt organizations are at risk of losing their tax exempt status with the IRS because they fail to satisfy the filing requirements AND they have not taken the opportunity to take the relief.  Check to see if your tax-exempt organization is on the list for revocation here: http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=225889,00.html
