Are you a tax exempt organization?! Are you on the Board of one or do you frequent one?! The general rule states: tax exempt organizations that do not satisfy the annual filing requirements for three consecutive years automatically lose their tax-exempt status; however the IRS is providing one-time relief for such organizations that have filing due dates on or after May 17, 2010 and before October 15, 2010. Well, many of our tax exempt organizations are at risk of losing their tax exempt status with the IRS because they fail to satisfy the filing requirements AND they have not taken the opportunity to take the relief.
